David Jones Ltd (ASX:DJS) to stock surf labels Quiksilver and Roxy

Company News

High-end retailer David Jones Ltd (ASX:DJS) is to stock surf labels Quiksilver and Roxy in stores in what it calls a market changing deal.

In a statement this morning, the company says it has signed a Department Store Exclusive Brand Agreement with two leading Australian surf and youth brands Quiksilver and Roxy.

Under the agreement Quiksilver kids and Roxy kids apparel will be sold in 32 David Jones stores from August 1, 2010.

David Jones says this is the first time in almost two decades that a leading surf brand will be available in an Australian department store and is testament to the success of the company’s ‘Home of Brands’ strategy.

Group General Manager of Apparel, Cosmetics & Accessories, Colette Garnsey says today’s announcement is a history making and market changing agreement, with no leading surfwear brands currently available in an Australian department store.

David Jones posted profit of $156.52 million for the 12 months to July 30, 2009.
