Herbal supplements company Blackmores Ltd
(ASX:BKL) is confident of achieving a healthy increase in full year profit after posting a jump in profit for the nine months to March 31, 2010.
In the three months to March 31, the company reported earnings of $6.2 million, up 68% on the March quarter last year.
For the nine months to March 31, profit after tax rose 21% to $19 million.
Sales rose 8% for the quarter to $52.9 million and 12% to $161.8 million for the nine months to March.
Australian sales rose 13% for the nine month period, however most notably growth in Asian sales came from a 40% increase in sales out of Thailand and 16% increase in Malaysia.
CEO Christine Holgate says the company has confidence in its upcoming marketing activity and expects profit to be above last year’s result of $20.8 million.
However, Ms Holgate says Blackmores is mindful of some weakening in the retail sector and the impact of the Australian dollar on sales from Asia.
In fiscal 09 Blackmores paid shareholders a total 96 cents a share in dividends.
