Intoll Group (ASX:ITO) revenue and traffic up for March quarter

Toll-road operator Intoll Group (ASX:ITO) says its toll roads delivered strong revenue and traffic performance over the March quarter.

Intoll holds the Sydney and Toronto toll roads of Macquarie Infrastructure Group which split in January spinning off its business into Intoll and Macquarie Atlas Roads who took the UK, France, US and Germany roads.

For the three months to March 31, 2010, average daily revenue from the M7 Westlink in Sydney rose 8.7% to $546,938 compared to the March quarter last year.

Intoll says M7 Westlink also experienced a 7.6% increase in the average number of workday trips.The company says it continues to see good growth in traffic on its toll roads in April.

Intoll says strengthening economic conditions in Canada, combined with a milder winter have led to a significant improvement in 407 ETR traffic volumes over the March 2010 quarter.

Average daily revenue at Toronto’s 407 ETR jumped 9.7% compared to the same period a year ago, with the number of average workday trips up 2.2%.

For fiscal 09, Intoll recorded a loss of $1.7 billion.
