Grocery retail giant Woolworths Ltd
(ASX:WOW) has revealed the locations of the first 12 stores to be built as part of its big box hardware chain.
According to the Australian Financial Review 10 of the news stores will be located in Melbourne with the Victorian Government agreeing to fast track the planning approval process.
Woolies has a home improvement joint venture agreement with US hardware major Lowe’s.
The sites for the new stores include Coolaroo, Burnside, Preston, Hawthorn East, Oakleigh South, South Morang, Mornington, Wendouree, Geelong, Bendigo, Knoxfield and Carrum Downs.
Woolworths and JV partner Lowe’s are planning to open 30 stores in Victoria over the next five years with 120 stores to be available across the country by 2014.
Woolworths earned $1.84 billion in the 12 months to June 30, 2009.
