Oil and gas producer Woodside Petroleum Ltd
(ASX:WPL) has chosen James Price Point, north of Broome, as the location for its Browse Basin gas field joint venture.
The company has secured agreement from its joint venture partners, BP, Chevron, BHP Billiton and Shell, to go ahead with the $30 billion liquefied natural gas project at the Western Australia site, following debate over a preferred location.
The Western Australian and federal governments gave the joint venture partners 120 days from the December 2 notice date to make a decision.
Woodside Petroleum posted a profit of $1.786 billion for calendar 2008.
