Changes to Telstra’s
(ASX:TLS) structure remains undecided.
Communications Minister Stephen Conroy is to negotiate with senators on amendments to his plan to split Telstra in two after meeting the company's chief executive in Canberra yesterday to strike a deal on the $43 billion national broadband network.
Minister Conroy and his department have been criticised for talking too long to deliver on the Telstra reform bill.
Telstra boss David Thodey used yesterday’s meeting to again call for parts of the government’s proposed reform to be scrapped, which would make it impossible for shareholders to approve a voluntary separation.
Telstra reported a 2009 net profit of just over $4 billion.
