Online travel agent Webjet Ltd
(ASX:WEB) has reported a 40% jump in profit for the half year with total transaction volumes up 37%.
Profit after tax for the six months to December 31, 2009 came to $5.2 million up from $3.7 million the year before.
Gross transaction values for the period were $248 million, up from $181.6 million recorded for the same time a year ago.
Webjet declared an interim dividend of 5 cents a share, up 67% from 3 cents last year.
The company says it is cautiously optimistic for the six months to June 2010 with evidence of increasing demand and strengthening economy.
Webjet posted profit of $7.68 million for the 2009 financial year.
