Qantas (ASX:QAN) offshoot Jetstar passenger relief

Company News

Qantas Airways' budget offshoot Jetstar continues to be in the headlines over a group of passengers stranded for two days on the resort island of Phuket.

The 290 passengers were due to leave for Sydney on Monday but couldn’t due to mechanical problems with their Airbus A330.

The good news is that Jetstar has sent another aircraft to pick up the passengers and has refunded their airfares, given them $600 in travel credit and paid for meals, accommodation and transfers as they waited for the replacement plane.

Qantas’ 2009 net profit was $117 million.
