Whitehaven Coal
(ASX:WHC) is Australia’s largest independent coal producer and the leading coal producer in North West New South Wales.
We operate five mines in North West NSW; four open cut mines at Maules Creek, Werris Creek, Tarrawonga and Rocglen, and one underground mine at Narrabri. These sites produce thermal and metallurgical coal bound primarily for export markets in North and South Asia.
In 1H FY17, Whitehaven Coal earned a net profit of $157.5M (up from $7.8M in 1H FY16).
During this period, the company's EBITA rose 205% to $324.8M and it reduced net debt to $628M (a significant reduction of $231M).
Furthermore, the company made equity coal sales of 7.8 Mt (up 6%), at a unit cost of $56 per tonne.
