DroneShield has promoted its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Oleg Vornik, a former investment banker from the Royal Bank of Canada, to the role of CEO and Managing Director of the company.

The company also promoted its Financial Controller Claire Newey to the role of CFO.

Also, the Boston Police Department in the United States has selected DroneShield to be the exclusive drone security provider for this year’s Boston Marathon, which will be held on 17 April 2017. The company’s systems will be placed at strategic points of the marathon course, providing real time alerts to the Police and other security personnel.

In April 2013, the Boston Marathon was rocked by two homemade bombs placed near the finish line – in a terrorist attack which killed three people and injured several hundred others.

DroneShield posted a net loss of $2.4 million at 30 June 2016.
