New Hope Group Corporation Limited (ASX: NHC) has announced the Federal Government has given it environmental approval for stage three of its open cut mine in Queensland.

The revised New Acland mine project will extend the life of the operation to 2029.

The coal miner still requires state government approvals to be granted before it can consider a final investment decision.

Following a Queensland Land Court hearing, the company is anticipating recommendations on its application to the Minster for Natural Resources by around April 2017.

New Hope Group posted a net loss of $53.68 million at 31 July 2016.
