Qantas grounds 10 aircraft over missed inspections

Qantas Airways (ASX:QAN) has temporarily grounded 10 of its Bombardier Q400 aircraft and cancelled some of its flights.

The reason it did so was because Qantas missed an inspection in regards to some bolts it had replaced on its Q400s – an inspection which was required by the manufacturer.

A spokesman from Qantas yesterday said this was merely an "administrative issue” relating to “technical compliance and not a safety issue with the aircraft".

The Qantas spokesman also confirmed that affected customers were being rebooked on alternative flights, and that one of the aircraft is back in the air (with the others expected to re-enter service in the next few days).

Qantas posted a net profit of $1 billion at 30 June 2016.
