RCR Tomlinson awarded $155M contract for QLD solar farm

RCR Tomlinson (ASX:RCR) has been awarded a contract worth over $155 million with Sun Metals Corporation, which is a subsidiary of the Korea Zinc Company.

Under the contract, RCR will engineer, procure, and construct the Sun Metals Solar Farm in Townsville, Queensland. This includes building access tracks, civil, structural and electrical construction.

RCR says the solar farm has been designed to cover over 130 hectares of land, with a total capacity of 98.5 megawatts, and an option to expand to 116 megawatts currently being considered.

The company says the project will commence immediately with construction to begin in April 2017, and completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.

RCR Tomlinson reported a net loss of $16.2 million at 30 June 2016.
