Downer EDI awarded new NBN contract

NBN Co Ltd has entered an additional contract with Downer EDI Ltd (ASX:DOW) for the roll-out of the National Broadband Network.

This contract is worth $200 million and will require Downer to deliver, design and construct NBN’s new Fibre to the Curb (FttC) technology.

Under the new FttC contract. Downer will deliver services to around 230,000 premises in Sydney metropolitan areas by June 2019.

In addition to this new deal, Downer EDI has already contracted with NBN to deliver Fibre to the Node, Fibre to the Premises and Hybrid Fibre Coaxial services in NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.

Downer EDI reported a net profit of $180.6 million at 30 June 2016.
