Virgin Australia
(ASX:VAH) and Air Canada have entered a codesharing agreement and formed a strategic partnership.
This deal will allow Virgin customers to book travel on Air Canada’s flights from Los Angeles to Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal.
Travellers who arrive on Air Canada’s daily flights from Vancouver to Brisbane and Sydney can now travel on connecting Virgin flights to the airline’s entire network domestically and to New Zealand.
It’s expected that this arrangement will take effect early next year – after the airlines obtain regulatory approvals.
This deal also lays the groundwork for the airlines to offer reciprocal frequent flyer benefits on each other’s flights.
Virgin posted a net loss of $224.7 million at 30 June 2016.
