Ardent Leisure Group (ASX:AAD) has announced it will donate a total of $157,225 to the Red Cross.

This money was raised during the Dreamworld theme park’s “Open Hearts-Open Doors” charity weekend, which just passed.  The theme park promised to donate $25 from each ticket sold to the charity.

Ardent Leisure says the donation will then be distributed to the families of those who lost their loved ones on 25 October at Dreamworld, when the Thunder Rapids River Ride malfunctioned, resulting in the deaths of four people.

Over the weekend, 6,000 visitors showed up to the Gold Coast theme park – a number which was well below Dreamworld’s average visitor numbers before the tragedy occurred.

Ardent Leisure Group reported a net profit of $42.4 million at 30 June 2016.
