Silver Chef fraud incident to impact earnings

Silver Chef Limited (ASX:SIV) has announced it has been the victim of a fraud attack involving customers working in conjunction with fraudulent GoGetta equipment vendors.

The written down value of rental equipment subject to the fraud is $3.3 million.

While the company is exploring all options of financial recovery, it will fully provide for a once-off after tax impairment charge of $2.2 million at 31 December 2016.

As a result of the incident the company has reduced its full year earnings expectations to fall within $21 to $23 million after tax, down from $23 to $25 million.

Silver Chef Limited reported a net profit of $22.4 million at 30 June 2016.
