Ardent Leisure (ASX:AAD) has announced that the Thunder Rapids River ride at its Dreamworld theme park will be demolished.

On 25 October, four people were killed on that ride when the raft they were on collided with another raft and flipped over.

Ardent Leisure’s CEO, Deborah Thomas, says the ride will be “permanently decommissioned” out of respect for the victims of the tragedy and their families.

The company has also engaged an independent expert engineering firm to perform a review of all Dreamworld and Whitewater World rides.

Ardent Leisure posted a net profit of $42.4 million at 30 June 2016.
