Sonic Healthcare to acquire German laboratory group

Sonic Healthcare Limited (ASX:SHL) has announced it has signed a binding agreement to acquire the Staber Laboratory group, headquartered in Munich, Germany.

The Staber group consists of 3 hub laboratories, 14 regional, speciality and hospital labs and employs around 50 pathologists and 1000 staff.

Sonic has purchased the business for €120 million, which will be funded from Sonic’s existing cash and debt facilities.

The acquisition is expected to be accretive to Sonic’s earnings per share by approximately 3 – 4 percent in the first year.

Sonic Healthcare Limited reported a net profit of $466 million at 30 June 2016.
