Lucapa achieves record quarterly production

Lucapa Diamond Company Ltd (ASX:LOM) has reported that the consortium, of which if it is a member, achieved record diamond production in the September quarter.

The consortium comprises Lucapa, and two other companies. At its Lulo Diamond Project in Angola, they produced 8,854 carats from alluvial diamond mining, which is a 154% increase over the previous corresponding quarter in 2015.

Lucapa says production included a record 137 diamonds which weighed more than 10.8 carats each.

The company also says the average size of the diamonds produced in the September quarter was 1.9 carats, which was also a quarterly record.

Lucapa reported a net profit of $4.4 million at 30 June 2016.
