SmartTrans launches Stephen Curry NBA app in China

SmartTrans Holdings Ltd (ASX:SMA) has secured the rights to distribute and bill for a new ‘Official App’ in China for famous NBA player, Stephen Curry.

SmartTrans will be partnering with San Francisco-based PressPlay, which specializes in direct-to-consumer distribution of multimedia content on behalf of celebrities.

The new app will earn revenue from transaction fees, and will provide fans with exclusive videos of training and basketball games, Q&A sessions and Stephen Curry’s personalized video diary.

SmartTrans believes this is a great opportunity since Curry has a major fan base in China. After all, Curry’s major sponsor, a US sporting apparel company called ‘Under Armor’, earned its first ever US$1 million online revenue day in China – after Curry’s first visit to the country.

SmartTrans reported a net loss of $2.8 million at 30 June 2016.
