Elders Limited (ASX:ELD) has announced it will immediately exit the long haul live export business and look to divest its short haul and air freight live exports.

The decision follows a full review of its live exports business, where it was determined Elders operational strengths lie in live export supply chain management instead.

Insufficient return on capital and falling margins have been cited as influencing the decision.

Elders long haul live export business was responsible for a loss of $3.8 million in the six months to 30 March 2016

Elders Limited reported a net profit of $25.4 million at 31 March 2016.
