Amcor acquires US manufacturer

Amcor Limited (ASX:AMC) says it has agreed to buy the North Amercian operation of Sonoco Products for US$280 million.

The acquisition will deliver six production sites in the US and one in Canada and should add revenue of around US$210 million along with strong, long standing relationships with leading multinational customers.

Amcor says it expects around US$50 million profit to kick in by the end of 2020.

The deal is still subject to US regulatory approval.

Amcor reported a net profit of $368 million for the 2016 financial year.
