Qantas posts ‘best ever’ full-year profit

Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX:QAN) CEO, Alan Joyce, says that his company had its “best result” ever and the “best result in Australian aviation history”.

Today, Qantas reported a record full year underlying profit of $1.53 billion, which is a 53% improvement over last year.

Australia’s largest airline will pay shareholders a fully-franked dividend of 7 cents per share. This is significant Qantas hasn’t paid a regular dividend for seven years.

The company will also launch a share market buyback totalling $366 million.
