Fisher & Paykel sues ResMed for patent infringement

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Ltd (ASX:FPH) is suing medical technology company, ResMed Inc (ASX:RMD), in the courts of the United States.

Fisher & Paykel has confirmed today that it filed patent infringement proceedings in the US District Court, California.

The company alleges that ResMed’s products (such as its Airsense 10, Aircuve 10 flow generators, Swift FX masks and CPAP devices to treat sleep apnoea) infringe patents that it currently holds.

The company says it is seeking from the Court damages, injunctive relief and all available legal remedies.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare reported a net profit of $129.2 million at 31 March 2016.
