IMF Bentham Ltd (ASX:IMF) has confirmed that it will fund a class action against the Australian Defence Force.

This upcoming court case arises out of the Defence Force allegedly using a problematic firefighting chemical, 5 years ago, at the Williamtown RAAF base, north of Newcastle.

This chemical has since been found to have contaminated the water and soil in the surrounding area – affecting nearby property owners and business owners.

IMF has decided to fund this class action because it has now secured over 250 compensation claimants, and they will be represented by Gadens Lawyers in Sydney.

IMF Bentham reported a net loss of $944,000 at 31 December 2015.
