Satellite communications provider, Speedcast International Ltd
(ASX:SDA), has entered a multi-year service deal with one of the largest marine service providers in the Asia-Pacific.
Speedcast says it will provide high-speed satellite services across the fleet of Perth-based company, MMA Offshore Ltd.
Also, Speedcast says this will result in improved data and voice connectivity across MMA’s fleet, as it will become a ‘one-stop-shop’ for MMA’s communications at sea.
The company also commented that it has noticed a ‘growing trend from global fleet operators’ to ‘consolidate their communication services with one entrusted service provider’ which offers cost benefits.
Speedcast reported a net profit of $5.9 million at 31 December 2015.
