Peninsula Energy Limited (ASX:PEN) has announced the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has denied a petition to appeal a ruling made by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (ASLB).

The petition was bought by the Natural Resources Defence Council and the Powder River Basin Resource Council, and sought to appeal a decision regarding the dismissal of environmental contentions at two Peninsula projects in Wyoming.

The NRC dismissed the petition to appeal due to insufficient evidence.

The contentions raised related to Peninsula’s Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement and groundwater conditions.

Peninsula Energy reported a net loss of $2.02 million at 31 December 2015.
