Anatara Lifesciences Ltd (ASX:ANR) has terminated the third efficacy study in Australia for its lead product, Detach.

Detach is a natural, non-antibiotic medication used to control diarrhoea in pigs.

The company says that power and water shortages at the trial site made it necessary to remove 22% of the sows and 25% of the piglets from the study. Anatara also says it will be difficult to enrol more pigs.

The company stresses that this will not impact the registration of Detach with the relevant regulatory authorities by the third quarter of this year.

Anatara reported a net loss of $1.18 million at 31 December 2015.
