Tassal Group Limited (ASX:TGR) has announced its fish processing facility at Margate will now supply fresh Salmon to Woolworths supermarkets in Queensland and New South Wales.
Previously Tassal was supplying Woolworths via its Lidcombe plant in Sydney.
Tassal’s CEO Mark Ryan has indicated the move to shift some processing to its Tasmanian Margate plant will allow it to supply fresher product to Woolworths.
The new contract with Woolworths comes on the back of a previous contract with Coles, and has ensured the continued operations of the Margate plant which employs 120 staff.
Tassal reported a net profit of $25.3 million at 31 December 2015.
