(ASX:ASB) has announced its Littoral Combat Ship 8, the future USS Montgomery, has successfully completed U.S. Navy acceptance trials.
The trials are the last milestone before delivery of the vessel, which is planned for later this Northern Spring.
CEO David Singleton has stated the new ship incorporates modifications that were identified following the delivery of LCS 6, Austal’s first as prime contractor.
After LCS 8, Austal has plans to deliver a further 9 combat ships, under a U.S Navy contract for 11 ships, worth over US$3.5 billion.
Asciano reported a net profit of $16.8 million at 31 December 2015.
