BlueScope reports plant incident

BlueScope Steel Limited (ASX:BSL) has reported an explosion and fire at the North Star BlueScope Steel plant in Delta, Ohio in the United States.
 
Emergency services responded quickly and all employees and contractors are safe.
 
The incident was caused by a refractory failure which allowed a wash out of molten steel from the South EAF shell. 
 
BlueScope expects production losses of approximately 35,000 metric tonnes, with total financial pre-tax cost, including capital repairs, to be in the order of US$5 million.
 
BlueScope Steel Limited reported a profit of $227 million for the 6 months to the end of December 2015
