CIMIC Group contractors win Gold Coast rail project

CIMIC Group (ASX:CIM) company CPB Contractors has been selected by GoldLinQ to design and construct stage 2 of the Gold Coast Light Rail project.
 
The contract will generate revenue of around $200 million for the company, with construction set to commence immediately and conclude in late 2017.
 
CPB Contractors will deliver a 7.3 kilometre northern extension of the Gold Coast light rail from Gold Coast University Hospital to Helensvale.
 
The company says Stage 2 is critical to meeting the increasing demand for public transport to support the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. 
 
CIMIC Group reported a net profit of $514.4 million at 31 December 2015.
