Paladin Energy Ltd
(ASX:PDN) has issued a response to recent media reports about water from a tailings facility at Kayelekera Mine in Malawi being released into the environment.
The company says that these reports are untrue, and assured stakeholders that no tailings water was released into the environment at the mine.
Paladin says that water inventory at the mine's tailings storage facility increased due to heavy rainfall.
The company also says that the freeboard levels remain within the approved operating design criteria and this facility continues to be actively monitored and managed.
Paladin reported a net loss of $31.3 million at 31 December 2015.
