Chorus gets behind telcos policy review

Company News

Chorus Limited (ASX:CNU) is another communications provider announcing its support for the NZ government’s recent announcement about policy decisions on the future regulation of the telecommunications sector.

These policy decisions will cover NZ’s potential move to a utility-style model for regulating both fixed-line copper and fibre wholesale services.

The company’s CEO, Mark Ratcliffe says, “New Zealanders are leveraging better broadband to enhance their social wellbeing and business success as an essential utility – much like electricity, water and gas”.

The NZ government has indicated that there will be further consultation on detailed design and implementation issues later this year.

Chorus reported a net profit of $30.94 million at 31 December 2015.
