Wellard ship back in operation

Company News

Wellard Limited (ASX:WLD) says nearly four months after it broke down carrying a cargo of thousands of live animals the MV Ocean Outback is returning to operations.

The ship became stranded off the coast of Western Australia in December with 13,000 head of cattle onboard.

The RSPCA had concerns when the livestock remained on the ship for over ten days while engineers tried to repair the vessel.

The ship has been in Singapore having repairs to a defective crankshaft and is now en-route to Townsville to load cattle for transport to Vietnam.

Wellard reported a net profit of $23.86 million for the six months to end December 2015.
