Telstra considers Foxtel sale

Company News

Telstra Corporation Limited (ASX:TLS) is apparently considering floating its 50 per cent stake in pay TV operator Foxtel.

The subscription television company has been facing stiff competition from internet streaming services such as Netflix and Stan.

Newscorp, which owns the other 50 per cent of Foxtel will get first dibs at the stake which analysts say could be worth around $4.5 billion.

Telstra made a net profit of $2.135 billion for the six months to end of December 2015
