Auckland International Airport Limited
(ASX:AIA) says the recent announcement of a new service by Qatar Airways will contribute $198 million to the New Zealand economy.
Qatar has said it will fly daily between Doha and Auckland starting from December later this year. The addition of Auckland is one of 14 new destinations across Europe, Africa and the Asia Pacific.
Ausckland Airport has estimated the new service will deliver around 189,000 seats to the route. Auckland to Doha will now be the world’s longest commercial flight by distance.
Auckland International Airport reported a net profit of $108.56 million for the six months to the end of December 2015.
