Auckland Airport international passengers reach new highs

Auckland International Airport (ASX:AIA) says international passenger numbers were up 9.3 per cent on-year for the month of January, the highest ever increase for a single month.
 
The Airport says the January 2016 result was driven by higher visitor arrivals over summer led by a 9.8 per cent capacity expansion across international routes.
 
Visitor arrivals from China were up a whopping 47.3 per cent for the month, driven by five direct services each day between Auckland and China.
 
Visitor arrivals from the USA were up 12.2 per cent, which follows the commencement of 5 new flights per week to Houston, by Air New Zealand.
 
Auckland Airport reported a net profit of $108.6 million at 31 December 2015.
