South 32 reports first-half loss

South32 Limited (ASX:S32) has reported after tax loss of $US1.749 billion for the first half of FY2016. 
 
On a pro-forma basis revenue fell 27 per cent to $2.98 billion. 
 
Basic earnings per share decreased by 614 per cent for the period.
 
The BHP spin off has also announced that it will cut 700 jobs to reduce costs before 30 June 2016. 
 
South32 has chosen not to pay a dividend for the period.
