Origin Energy has confirmed the first shipment of LNG has departed the Australia Pacific LNG facility on Curtis Island in Queensland.
Origin Managing Director Grant King says it’s a landmark moment in the history of the company, which has been working towards the milestone for more than 7 years.
Australia Pacific LNG is one of three LNG plants on the east coast of Australia to become operational over the past year.
It produces natural gas from Australia’s largest 2P CSG reserves base located in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland.
Origin Energy reported a net loss of $590 million at 30 June 2015.
