SKYCITY appoints $477M contract

SKYCITY Entertainment Group Limited (ASX:SKC) has teamed up with New Zealand construction company Fletcher Construction Company Limited to build the New Zealand International Convention Centre and a new 5-star hotel.
 
The casino owner and operator announced it had agreed the terms of a binding $477 million contract with Fletcher Construction to build and complete the design of the NZICC building and carpark, the Hobson Street hotel and connecting retail laneways.
 
Work is expected to commence by Christmas and will create at least 1000 jobs during the 38-month build.
 
SKYCITY and Fletcher Construction have previously coordinated on the original SKYCITY site, Sky Tower and Grand Hotel.
 
SKYCITY Entertainment Group recorded a net profit of $113.99 million at 30 June 2015.
