Qantas profit takes off

Company News

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) has announced its strongest profit since before the GFC in the year to June 30.

The airline reported a statutory net profit of $557 million, compared to a $2.84 billion loss last year.

Operating cash flow for the year was $2 billion, up from $1.1 billion and revenue climbed 3 per cent to $15.8 billion.

The company says the latest profit result is due to a number of significant cost cutting measures and cheaper fuel.

Qantas has not provided any kind of profit guidance, due to the uncertainty in global economic conditions.

The airline will not be paying a final dividend.
