Fortescue Metals Group Limited
(ASX:FMG) has awarded an $85 million contract to a joint venture between Pilbara Native Title group Wirlu-murra and mining services provider Thiess.
The iron ore miner says the three year deal will see the JV undertake maintenance of non processing infrastructure.
This infrastructure includes camps, administration offices, water bores and dewatering infrastructure at Fortescue’s Solomon mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The new contract builds on the existing $75 million contract Wirlu-murra has in place for earthworks and road maintenance for Fortescue with an Eastern Guruma owned business.
Fortescue Metals Group reported a net profit of $403.56 million in the first half of the 2015 financial year.
