Qantas expands in US market

Company News

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) says it’s expanded on its joint venture with American Airlines and will revive its Sydney-San Francisco route.

The deal between the two airlines will shift to a revenue share agreement as American Airlines starts a daily Sydney to Los Angeles service that will replace the Qantas B747 service. The Qantas A380 daily direct flights to LA from Sydney and Melbourne will remain.

Qantas will also return to the Sydney-San Francisco flight route starting with a peak day only service that will lift to six days a week from January next year.

The new arrangements are still subject to regulatory approval.

Qantas made a net profit of $206 million for first 6 months of the 2015 financial year.
