The Board of Racing Victoria has chosen Seven West Media Limited
(ASX:SWM) as its preferred partner in a combined free-to-air and digital broadcast deal.
The board advises Seven has proposed to showcase Victorian thoroughbred racing nationally through a new, dedicated free-to-air channel.
The channel is expected to be complemented by a suite of streaming and other digital services at what Racing Victoria describes as the home of Victorian thoroughbred racing, Racing.com.
Racing Victoria has also stated, in addition to the deal with Seven, it is its view that the vision of Victorian thoroughbred racing should continue to be broadcast through Tabcorp Holdings Limited
(ASX:TAH)-owned Sky Racing distribution network.
Seven West Media reported a net loss $993.6 million in the first half of the 2015 financial year.
