AGL Energy Limited
(ASX:AGL) has secured a gas transportation deal on the Eastern Gas Pipeline, a key supply artery between Victoria and New South Wales.
The energy giant has inked a deal with Jemena Eastern Gas Pipeline to purchase capacity on the pipeline over 15 years from next year.
The deal will underpin the midline compression capacity expansion of the pipeline and enable AGL to secure competitive foundation customer haulage tariffs to New South Wales and the ACT.
The company says it now has flexible haulage capability to move contracted Victorian gas to meet customer requirements in New South Wales and the ACT to at least 2020.
AGL Energy reported a net profit of $308 million in the first half of the 2015 financial year.
