News Corp softer ad sales hurt Q3 revenue

Company News

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp (ASX:NWS) has posted softer third quarter revenue after suffering lower advertising sales for its newspapers and battling with currency fluctuations.

The media conglomerate’s total revenues declined 1 per cent to $US2.06 billion on the back of a 12 per cent drop in advertising sales from its news division.

CEO Robert Thomson says News Corp continues to build a firm foundation for digital growth and is firmly on track to deliver year-over-year EBITDA growth in the following quarter.

Mr Thomson has also highlighted the company’s integration of realtor.com which it says grew audience and revenue at record levels in the third quarter.

News Corp reported a net profit of $306 million in the first half of the 2015 financial year.
