Telstra Corporation Limited
(ASX:TLS) has tied up the purchase of Asian telecommunications and services provider Pacnet Limited for $US697 million.
The telco announced the deal at the end of last year as part of its push beyond Australia as says the asset will now be integrated into its business and double its customers in Asia.
Telstra has also announced it will more than double its Wi-Fi trial in Australia to more than 1,500 new hotspots, adding to the 1,100 hotspots already available.
The company plans to bring Wi-Fi to its entire 80 owned retail stores later this year.
Telstra reported a record net profit of $2.11 billion in the first half of the 2015 financial year.
