Woolworths Limited
(ASX:WOW) has pulled down its “Fresh in Our Memories” website after the Anzac Day campaign sparked controversy.
The Australian supermarket giant faced a backlash on social media when it placed the phrase and its brand over faces of soldiers.
Woolies advise the site was developed to give its staff and customers a place to put their stories to mark the Centenary of ANZAC.
The company says it regrets that its branding on the picture generator has caused offence and it will continue to support the RSL and Camp Gallipoli.
Woolworths reported a net profit of $1.28 billion in the first half of the 2015 financial year.
